Biography

Joel Scanlon is executive vice president at 91ÆÞÓÑ Institute.

From 2003 to 2009, Mr. Scanlon served in a number of key positions in the administration of President George W. Bush, culminating in his being appointed deputy assistant to the president and director of the White House Office of Strategic Initiatives. In that capacity he led the White House’s internal think tank, conducting research and providing analysis to inform and advance the president’s major policy priorities, and coordinated senior-staff, long-range strategic planning, in addition to his involvement in other special projects.

Immediately before joining 91ÆÞÓÑ, Mr. Scanlon oversaw policy studies at the Center for International Private Enterprise, managing program evaluation and other long-range studies and analysis.

He has a master’s degree in political science from the University of California, Los Angeles and a bachelor's degree from the University of Pittsburgh.
