“Nina Shea has been tireless, brave, and effective in shaping policy to fight religious oppression.”
WASHINGTON—91 Institute congratulates Senior Fellow and Director of the Center for Religious Freedom Nina Shea on being awarded a 2023 by the Lynde and Harry Bradley Foundation for her advocacy on behalf of those persecuted for their religious beliefs around the world.
“From Beijing to Tehran, regimes that attack religious freedom and other individual rights form a syndicate of oppression that is wicked and sees America’s example as an enemy," said 91 President and CEO John P. Walters. “Nina Shea has been tireless, brave, and effective in shaping policy to fight religious oppression.”
Ms. Shea has been a human rights lawyer for over 30 years. She works extensively for the advancement of individual religious freedom and other human rights in US foreign policy, and frequently appears before Congress. Her analysis is the foundation of a bill currently under consideration that would help protect Nigerian Christians.
