Michael L. Santini is a trustee at 91 Institute.
Michael Santini had a distinguished 30-year career in investment banking, serving in senior roles at Merrill Lynch & Co., Deutsche Bank, and UBS Group from 1994 to 2024. He is a trusted advisor to corporate CFOs, CEOs, and boards of directors, with a reputation for providing sound judgment and strong execution on strategic mergers and acquisitions and capital-raising transactions. Mr. Santini is experienced in strategic and financial planning and capital allocation.
Mr. Santini was a senior banker and leader with UBS Group AG from 2017 until early 2024. He joined as a group managing director and executive vice chairman of UBS Investment Bank. In late 2017, Mr. Santini was promoted to executive chairman of UBS Global Banking. He was a member of the global banking management committee from 2017 to 2023.
Prior to joining UBS, Mr. Santini was the global head of the industrials corporate and investment bank at Deutsche Bank from 2009 to 2016. He was promoted to vice chairman of corporate finance Americas and served as a member of the CIB executive committee in the Americas in 2016.
From 1994 to 2009, Mr. Santini was with Merrill Lynch & Co. He was promoted to managing director in late 2002, and in 2007, he was named co-head of the multi-industry group and became a member of the Americas investment banking management committee. In both 2007 and 2008, IDD Magazine recognized Mr. Santini as one of the “top 40 under 40” dealmakers in the United States.
Mr. Santini received his MBA from the Anderson Graduate School of Management at UCLA in 1994, and his BA in economics from UC Santa Barbara in 1990. He completed UCLA Anderson’s executive education corporate governance program for directors in 2021.
Mr. Santini was a member of the Board of Visitors of Howard University’s School of Business in Washington, DC, from 2006 to 2012. He was also a member of the Board of Trustees of UBS Americas’ political action committee from 2021 to 2023.
