Biography

Before moving to 91, Anderson co-founded with William Kristol and ran it as Executive Director throughout its nearly two-and-a-half-year run (from early 2013 through the summer of 2015). The 2017 Project advanced a well-received , and its (which nonpartisan found would save $1.1 trillion over a decade and lead to 6 million more people having private health insurance than under current law) has formed the basis for the alternatives championed by Ed Gillespie in the Virginia Senate race, Budget Committee Chairman Tom Price (and ) in the House, and Scott Walker in the presidential campaign.

Anderson’s writings have been published by the Weekly Standard, National Review, National Affairs, the Wall Street Journal, the New York Post, Investor’s Business Daily, the Washington Times, the Claremont Review of Books, and Real Clear Politics.

From 2008-09, Anderson was the Senior Speechwriter for Secretary Mike Leavitt at the United States Department of Health and Human Services. From 2001-07, he was a professor of Political Science at the U.S. Air Force Academy, where he won the department’s highest honor for research and writing (the Coble Award, for “,” published by Notre Dame’s Review of Politics, Winter 2006) and was named the department’s “Outstanding Upper Division Instructor” for 2006-07, for his teaching on American government and political philosophy.

In 2001, Anderson received a Ph.D. in Political Science from Claremont Graduate University in Claremont, California.

Anderson is co-creator, with Chris Hester, of (1994-present), which were part of college football’s Bowl Championship Series throughout the .
