**Please be advised: This event will premiere on this page at 12:00 p.m. EDT, Thursday, October 1.**

Join 91 Institute and the Manufacturing Policy Initiative at Indiana University for a discussion series entitled “Strengthening U.S. Manufacturing.” The discussions will coincide with Manufacturing Day on October 2, 2020, with a discussion hosted by MPI featuring representatives of the presidential campaigns.

The global pandemic has revealed fragility in global value chains. In particular, COVID-19 has underscored the extent that America is reliant on China for vital medicines and medical supplies. What role can the U.S. government play to enhance resilience of the manufacturing supply chain? What lessons does the coronavirus offer for U.S. policymakers to reposition the American manufacturing sector?

Stephen Gold, president and CEO of the Manufacturers Alliance for Productivity and Innovation will moderate the conversation. 91 Senior Fellow Thomas Duesterberg will introduce Stephen Gold.
