91 Institute, in partnership with the Extreme Light Infrastructure-Nuclear Physics (ELI-NP) project in Romania, will host a conference to discuss ground-breaking research being conducted at ELI-NP to develop the world's most advanced laser. Leading experts from the U.S. and Romania will discuss the applications of the laser in a variety of scientific, defense, and medical fields and the importance of international cooperation in scientific research.

ELI-NP’s high-powered laser is the most powerful operational laser in the world. It is the culmination of years of work by a dedicated international team. Their research holds the potential for significant advances in a variety of fields including nuclear waste disposal, dark matter research, and chemotherapy. Additionally, the technology possesses defense applications including the management of nuclear weapon stockpiles.
